The increase in global temperature leads to rising sea levels and more extreme weather, resulting in flooding risks and water shortages. Furthermore, temperature increase has impact on ground water levels, land subsidence, harvesting, thermal expansion of materials and impoverishment of nature, which in turn lead to increased maintenance costs and negative environmental impact.
How can we implement climate adaptation into our projects? How can we make water structures, industries, the built environment and infrastructure resilient to climate change? What innovations are the solution for water shortages? How can we protect ourselves worldwide against floods in an affordable way and appropriate to the environment? How can we deal with downpours, heavy storms and heat waves? And how could we enhance the water quality and biodiversity that are effected by climate change?
Do you have any suggestions on how to do so? We challenge everyone to bring new ideas to the table! Your ideas do not have to provide a complete and overall answer to our broad research question.
